The Twitter Campaign

Campaign on TwitterThere are two sections to the Twitter campaign: spreading the word to build campaign momentum with the BBC audience and putting pressure on decision makers. Please follow @saveourbbc_cic and encourage others to do the same.

In all tweets please use #saveourbbc and if relevant #40paday, #BBCneedsU or other as appropriate. We would prefer you used your own words to support the BBC but some samples are given below to get you started. If you have room please tag @saveourbbc_cic in your tweets as well.

Twitter is a difficult medium to campaign in as the Licence Fee tends to stir up some abusive responses. We have a policy of encouraging robust debate but that does not allow for rudeness or bullying tactics. We block any accounts which indulge in this approach and would encourage all to do the same. Do not be intimidated by aggressive reactions just block them. We do our best to keep our twitter clear of these problems but apologise if any get through. Please do not unfollow SaveOurBBC because of this or the bullies have won!

Please contact Save Our BBC with any additional material – all suggestions gratefully received!
