Late Night Woman’s Hour
Lauren Laverne and guests businesswoman Hilary Devey, neuroscientist Sophie Scott, anthropologist Kit Davies and former detective Mo Dowdy explore the benefits and frustrations of trusting your instincts in Late Night Woman’s Hour.
“She’s lying”… “I need to leave”… “He likes me”… “Something’s wrong”… Every day our brains send us millions of messages. Some of them are readings of signals so tiny we don’t know we’re reading them. We call this intuition – the sense that something’s very right, or perhaps very wrong, even if we can’t put our finger on what that something is. The sense that someone likes or dislikes us, or that we’re being lied to, or that we should leave, right now.
Some of us are good at trusting our intuition, but sometimes we doubt ourselves – and perhaps regret it later. Historically, ‘women’s intuition’ has been both revered and dismissed. In this programme, Lauren Laverne asks businesswoman Hilary Devey and neuroscientist Sophie Scott about how we use intuition in our work and personal lives, and explores how we can learn to harness its power.
