SAVE ALL OUR BBC!
Peter Blackman, Strategic Director, Save Our BBC says:
“We the audience of BBC programmes and users of BBC services want them all to survive and thrive. The BBC came first. It is the market maker not an intervention. Commercial broadcasters are very welcome.
The BBC must continue to inform, educate and entertain in all respects.
We reject the opinion of the Culture, Media & Sport Select Committee Report published today that “the BBC should reduce provision in areas that are over-served (sic) or where the public service characteristics are marginal or where others are better placed to deliver excellence and value for money.” The BBC is the best broadcaster, and the pillar of our society, the common good and UK citizenship. It is the standard against which commercial broadcasters (50% of whom come from the BBC) are measured. The combination makes UK public service broadcasting the envy of the world and it pivotal in maintaining the UK’s leading international reputation.”
