The BBC Has Chosen BT To Provide Its Broadcast Network
It was announced that the BBC has awarded a £100m contract to replace its broadcast network to BT. The seven year deal will save the corporation tens of millions of pounds and will provide extra data capacity as the corporation prepares to offer ultra-high definition pictures and more tailored online services.
“This is an important step towards building an internet-fit BBC and will allow us to provide more interactive and personalised content in the future.” Matthew Postgate, Chief Technology Officer, BBC
“Save Our BBC welcomes all savings and efficiencies which enable the BBC’s programmes, content and services to survive and thrive. Such changes must prove to deliver the promised improvements and savings without impacting on quality or productivity.”
