The Best Place to be a Woman in Great Britain
Woman’s Hour on Tuesday (10.00am, Radio 4) reveals the Best Place to be a Woman in Great Britain.
The report has been compiled by NatCen Social Research. So will city living top rural dwelling? Can the young flourish in the same locations as the old? And can community spirit ever truly compensate for a lack of facilities? Woman’s Hour finds out.
Monday 11 September – Woman’s Hour will hear from listeners in a phone-in programme about what makes their hometown great and their predictions for the big reveal.
Tuesday 12 September (10:00-10:45) – Jane Garvey presents a special programme live from the Radio Theatre in London to reveal the winner of the Best Place to be a Woman. She will be joined by some of Britain’s best known women who will champion and defend – with passion – their hometown, as well as an audience of women from across Britain to react and share their experiences. It could get heated… Jane will hear from women in the newly crowned best place – do they agree? And at the other end of the scale, why are some areas not serving women well? Jane and guests discuss.
Wednesday 13 September (10:00-10:45) – Woman’s Hour begins a tour across Great Britain, hearing from women in their hometowns about what life is like there, what’s great, what’s not and how their neighbourhood compares to others.
